Medford, MA

A college-run organization that provides learning partnerships between college students and incarcerated people through combined courses inside jails and prisons. It also offers prisoners opportunities to earn associate’s degrees.

Beloit, WI

A prison abolition group based at Beloit College that organizes students to write letters to legislators, create posters on campus, and spreads awareness about the corporations benefiting from prison labor.

FOR IOWA ORGANIZING


Just Voices

A city-wide organization which fights racial profiling in Des Moines. They worked on the anti-racial profiling ordinance two years ago, have been working hard to get these changes approved in recent protests, and also organize local restorative justice work in schools.

Iowa CCI

A state-wide organization which takes on a wide range of social and environmental issues. With thousands of email subscribers, they generate awareness among a large base and their Racial Justice campaign has helped bring people out to fight racial profiling.

Iowa C.U.R.E.

Citizens United for the Rehabilitation of Errants, or C.U.R.E., is a national organization that advocates for more humane treatment of prisoners and alternatives to prisons as solutions to crime problems. They are built to support families and friends of those who are incarcerated.

Living Beyond the Bars

A state-wide organization that supports the loved ones of those who are incarcerated, from conviction through re-entry. They offer free programming to families --support groups, workshops, and mentorship -- to help navigate the challenges that incarceration poses on relationships and emotional health.

Iowa Justice Action Network

A nonprofit based in Cedar Falls, IA that organizes events for community action related to criminal justice reform and reducing mass incarceration. They work to garner bipartisan support of reform-minded legislation.
